Dr. Lopes called me this afternoon. We had a great chat. He is ever so optimistic as always while emphasizing that dad is really in a medical crisis right now, but better than he was 2 days a go. All of his numbers are looking much better. They think the steroids jacked up his adrenal gland and that is contributing to his massive water weight gain. They are going to give him something to control that. He said that he thinks his unresponsiveness is definitely stemming from the medical issues and NOT his brain. The change in the CT scan of the brain, Lopes said he is perplexed as to why it is there, but it is not a significant issue and it perfectly livable.
He is frustrated that he has taken such a huge step backwards, but he said he is in complete control now and is making sure stuff gets done. He told me that if we had any issues or concerns that weren't being addressed by the hospital staff to not hesitate to make them call him so he can talk to us.
I feel much more optimistic now that I know that this is not a neurological issue. I am so kicking his ass when he wakes up for scaring me that bad!!!
